Event Details

Join a dynamic crowd of NYC residents who are committed to a sustainable future, while sampling 6 of the very best organic and biodynamic wines, our host has to offer.  Connect with others about social, economic and environmental issues facing our world today, while supporting businesses that are devoted to a sustainable future.

Leading the tasting, author of The Wine Chronicles - Writing Your Own Fine Wine Book, Greg Moore has been a well-known sommelier since 1977.  After working at the prestigious Le Bec-Fin, Greg opened his first wine shop in NJ in 1996 selling handpicked, small-farm wines from some of the finest producers in the world.   In 1999 Greg opened his second store in Wilmington, Delaware. Food and Wine Magazine named it "Best New Wine Shop in America", in 2001.  This third store, with a mezzanine floor dedicated to wine classes and special events, opened in May of 2006. Of special interest is that every Moore Brothers wine is "sourced" in a direct, personal relationship with the farmer-grower who made it, and is shipped and stored in perfect conditions of temperature control.

Since 2001, Fancy Girl Catering has established itself as a premier gourmet organic caterer serving the Northeast. FG supports the use of sustainable agricultural practices, and uses locally grown products whenever possible.  Fancy Girl's owner and executive chef, Jeanette Maier, is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute, and was previously chef and owner of New York City's first gourmet organic restaurant, Herban Kitchen in Soho. Her culinary creations have been twice voted "Best of New York" by New York Magazine, and she has been praised by the NY Times, Time Out NY, NY 1, MSNBC and Fox Television.  She was featured on the CBS Early Show "Chef on a Shoestring" and her recipes appear in that show's cookbook.
